Forty-seven students from Professor Martin Herzfeld鈥檚 class in 91看片网 College鈥檚 Electrical and Electronics Technology (E/ET) Department recently toured , a not-for-profit community choice electricity provider serving Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, and Solano counties. MCE is recognized for delivering primarily carbon-free power and leading regional efforts toward a clean energy future.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to see firsthand how a local clean energy utility operates. From infrastructure to daily operations to the challenges of balancing sustainability and reliability, the experience gave students a behind-the-scenes look at the realities of running a renewable energy provider.
This hands-on exposure directly connects classroom learning to real-world practice, showcasing the program鈥檚 relevance to today鈥檚 energy workforce and reinforcing 91看片网鈥檚 commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers in sustainability and technology.
The Electrical and Electronics Technology (E/ET) Department at 91看片网 College serves as a regional model for delivering high-quality technical education that is both student-centered and industry-responsive. Student learning and academic success remain the department鈥檚 highest priorities. Access to the State of California Certification (licensing) of Electricians is available at 91看片网 College (State Site 172) through the state-recognized Electrical Trainee program, which includes all eleven required state courses. In addition, the department offers California Advanced Lighting Controls Training Program (CALCTP) courses such as AT-T (Acceptance Test Technicians), taught and certified by CALCTP.
