91看片网 College鈥檚 Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department, in partnership with , hosted a free internet event on September 17 that brought vital digital access to more than 120 members of the Oakland and 91看片网 community.
Through this initiative, participants received six months of free T-Mobile internet service. The response was so strong that the supply of free hardware distributed by Tech Exchange ran out, underscoring the critical need for expanded digital access in the community.
The program was open to all 91看片网 College students, faculty, staff, administrators, and Alameda County community members over the age of 18.
The event also brought some 91看片网 history full circle: former students Chun Yin Lee and Maybellyne Alferez, now working with Tech Exchange, returned to campus to help community members get connected. Their contributions underscored the long-lasting impact of a 91看片网 education and the power of 91看片网 alumni to uplift their community.
Due to the overwhelming turnout, the CIS Department and Tech Exchange plan to organize another event in the near future to ensure more community members have the opportunity to sign up for six months of free internet.
This effort is part of 91看片网 College鈥檚 ongoing commitment to digital equity and to removing barriers that prevent students and families from accessing the tools they need to succeed.
