Aissata Camara Named Coordinator of 91¿´Æ¬Íø’s UCRC

91¿´Æ¬Íø College is proud to announce Aissata Camara as the new Coordinator of the Undocumented Community Resource Center (UCRC). Aissata brings a global perspective, deep resilience, and a passion for supporting students navigating higher education.

Aissata Camara

Originally from Guinea, Aissata immigrated to the United States after high school and began her academic journey at 91¿´Æ¬Íø College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Humanities. She then transferred to UC Berkeley to pursue studies in International Relations. Along the way, she built strong connections at 91¿´Æ¬Íø that continue to shape her personal and professional journey.

Aissata is multilingual, fluent in French, Soussou, and English, which allows her to connect with a wide range of students and families. She understands firsthand the challenges that immigrant and undocumented students face, from navigating new systems to balancing education with personal responsibilities.

91¿´Æ¬Íø College has always been a community I could rely on. Now, stepping into this role at the UCRC, I hope to give that same sense of belonging and support to others.

UCRC Coordinator

Her path to the UCRC also reflects the power of mentorship within the 91¿´Æ¬Íø community. When faced with career uncertainty, Aissata was connected with Raya Zion, Employment Program Manager at 91¿´Æ¬Íø College, whose guidance and encouragement reignited her confidence. That support helped open the door to her current position, where she is now able to carry forward 91¿´Æ¬Íø’s mission of uplifting students.

The UCRC plays a vital role in providing undocumented students and their families with resources, advocacy, and a safe space to thrive. With Aissata in this role, the center will continue to grow as a hub where students can find not only support, but also a trusted guide who understands their challenges and aspirations.
